Canoeing on Tara River puts you low in a two-person inflatable kayak, face to face with 20+ rapids across 18km of the world's second deepest canyon. Unlike rafting, here you hold the paddle — you steer, you decide, you earn every rapid you conquer. Your guide travels alongside you the entire route, navigating you through the canyon and keeping you safe, while giving you just enough independence to make it feel like your own adventure. The final 2km flow onto the Drina River, where Tara and Piva rivers meet, finishing at base camp with a home-cooked lunch waiting for you.

Safety & Requirements for Tara River Canoeing

Canoeing on Tara River is designed to be accessible for beginners, but wild water demands respect. Why Choose Canoeing Over Rafting on Tara River?

Rafting on Tara River is a team effort - you paddle together, react together, and share the experience with everyone in the boat. Canoeing is the opposite. In your own two-person inflatable kayak, you are the captain - reading the rapid ahead, choosing your line, and steering through Tara's wild water under your own power. The canyon is the same 18km of breathtaking Tara River gorge, the same 20+ rapids, the same turquoise water and towering canyon walls. What changes is how personally you experience every single one of them. For adventurers who want more than a passenger seat - canoeing on Tara River is the answer.

Incredible place! The staff is so welcoming and professional. Located on Maglić mountain, it offers cozy pods and stunning views. Canyoning was a safe, thrilling adventure. Great food and cold beer at the end made it perfect. Highly recommend this mountain paradise for all!

Visiting this place was an incredible experience. We came for Hrčavka Canyon, and Branko made it all possible. He provided us with key info with true passion and knowledge. He understands the mountain spirit. I would highly recommend him for any outdoor activity. Thank you!

This place left us speechless! Cozy cabins with amazing views and comfy beds. The owners paid attention to every detail: clean showers, hammocks, and warm water. Food is delicious—the ajvar is a must try! Family-owned and super friendly, especially Maja. We’ll be back soon!
