Some outdoor experiences are worth doing individually. These two are worth doing together. Combining canyoning in Hrcavka Canyon with white water rafting on Tara River creates a three-day adventure that covers the full spectrum of what Bosnia and Herzegovina's wild rivers and canyons have to offer - technical descents, powerful rapids, hidden natural pools and canyon landscapes that stay with you long after you leave. Hrcavka Canyon sits deep inside Sutjeska National Park, one of Europe's most protected wilderness areas, and delivers a full canyon descent with verticals, waterslides, natural pools and jumps through one of the most dramatic gorges in the region. Tara River then closes out the adventure on one of the most celebrated rafting routes in Europe, running through the second deepest canyon in the world with over 20 rapids on an 18-kilometre route. Together, they are the best two-activity combination we offer.

Why Combine Rafting and Canyoning in One Trip

Rafting Tara River and canyoning Hrcavka Canyon are different enough to complement each other perfectly. The canyon demands focus, agility and nerve - you are moving against the rock face, reading the water from inside a narrow gorge, navigating obstacles one at a time. The river demands teamwork, rhythm and a willingness to let the current do some of the work, all while the Tara Canyon walls rise hundreds of metres above you. Together across three days, with an overnight at base camp between the two activities, this combination gives you the adrenaline of both worlds without rushing either one. The domestic food, the campfire evenings and the riverside setting at base camp Tara 87 tie the whole experience together in a way that makes this one of the most complete outdoor arrangements in the region.
